Grrrr.....
My Xbox 360 is fuck up now. I had it all working good, replaced the DVD with a new one and all was well. $75 plus a little time and it was working great. Then today I play it with it a bit, tested a few things then, the screen distorts. I shut it off and turn it back on, E74 error. FUCK! This seems to be some mythical error, noone was quite figured out, but most say the X-Clamp Fix tends to fix it. Well apparently the parts for said fix are nigh impossible to come by. Why the hell are 1mm thick washers so hard to find? Anyways, I'm annoyed greatly, and about ready to say fuck this whole experiment and sell it on eBay. Hell I got a free 512 memory card from Microsoft, so I should actually be able to sell everything and break even or turn a profit.
I'm greatly annoyed right now, having spent so much time on this thing. Why the fuck Microsoft thought the X-Clamps would make for a good cooling solution is beyond me. Fucking shitty ass design.GRRRRR!
EDIT: Matt-2 Xbox 360-0
I pulled up a different version of the X-Clamp fix, and this time Home Depot did have the parts. So I X-Clamped my 360 and it's now working. Yay! Now the question is for how long? Now the cost of this Xbox is $85 after buying some thermal paste and various screws and washers at Home Depot. Not a bad price for a 360. I pity anyone who bought one at launch for retail price, because there are thermal flaws like all get out, in it.
Edit: Matt-1 Xbox-360-1
Yeah I managed to get it working, but it can only manage a few minutes before the dashboard starts glitching. And when I shut it down and restart after the glitch it's E74 again. Son of a bitch. I'm extremely close to ebaying the piece of crap. I just need to delete my xbox live info, on the memory card.
